Ashlee Evans-Smith Fails UFC 181 Drug Test For Diuretic
Ashlee Evans-Smith made her UFC debut against Raquel Pennington at UFC 181. She ended up losing the fight at the very end of the first-round, by an impressive bulldog choke that saw her fall unconscious.
MMA Junkie is now reporting the Evans-Smith has also failed her post-fight drug test for a diuretic known as hydrochlorothiazide.
Although it’s likely that Evans-Smith allegedly used hydrochlorothiazide to assist her in making the weight for her short-notice fight, they’ve also been known to be used as a masking agent for performance-enhancing drugs.
Evans-Smith has denied the use of a diuretic, according to her manager.
Ashlee Evans-Smith is expected to address the drug test failure with the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday. Because this is the first time she’s failed a drug test in her career, it’s highly unlikely she will receive the maximum punishment from the commission.
The NSAC hearing on Monday can be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass
Ashlee Evans-Smith was undefeated in her pro MMA career with a record of 3-0, prior to her loss to Raquel Pennington.
She gained popularity after she defeated highly controversial transgender fighter, Fallon Fox. She went on to defeat Marciea Allen at WSOF 10 in her next fight. She then received the call to join the UFC.
