Boxer David Haye claims UFC contacted him about fighting Jimi Manuwa
Former Boxing champion David Haye recently held a fan Q&A session that he streamed live. During the Q&A, he was asked about what he thinks of UFC light heavyweight Jimi Manuwa’s call-out after his KO victory over Corey Anderson at UFC Fight Night 107.
Not only did the fellow Brit praise Jimi Manuwa’s performance, he also claimed that Manuwa’s manager and the UFC have contacted him about a possible fight between the two men.
Here’s what he said about it:
“I was very impressed with his quick knockout the other night at the O2 Arena. If any of the mixed martial artists can convert over to be a successful boxer he has definitely got the body shape and style to do so.
We have heard from Manuwa’s management and UFC so it is something that we are looking at at the moment.
Obviously, it is a little way off being confirmed. But it is a fight that would unify a lot of the fans from both UFC and boxing and make a mega event.”
Although it was not specified if the alleged conversation was in regards to Haye fighting in the UFC, or Manuwa taking him on in a Boxing ring, it’s likely the latter.
With rumors heating up about a possible fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, could they possibly add a fight between Haye and Manuwa to that potential card, should it happen?
It seems like new UFC ownership may be open to the idea of fighters on their roster competing against Boxers since they’re in some hefty debut after purchasing the UFC for over $4 billion.
