Cain Velasquez vs Travis Browne In The Works For UFC 200
Former UFC heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez, will likely fight next at UFC 200, against Travis Browne. The news just broke on this evening’s ‘UFC Tonight’ show.
Cain Velasquez is 11-2 in the UFC and 13-2 overall. He became the heavyweight champion when he defeated Brock Lesnar at UFC 121. However, he’d lose the title to Junior Dos Santos in his next fight, at UFC on FOX 1. After destroying Antonio Silva at UFC 146, Velasquez was granted another shot at the title, against Dos Santos.
Velasquez thoroughly dominated Dos Santos to re-claim his title. Velasquez would defend that title twice, before being dethroned by current champion, Fabricio Werdum at UFC 188.Velasquez was scheduled to have a rematch with Werdum at was was then labeled as UFC 196, but was forced out of the fight with an injury.
Travis Browne is 9-3-1 in the UFC and 18-3-1 overall. Browne was victorious in his last fight in the Octagon, as he defeated Matt Mitrione in a very controversial fight, that saw Browne foul Mitrione several times with eye-pokes.
UFC 200 takes place on July 9th, 2016 at T-Mobile arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
