Carla Esparza Wants To Make Return At UFC 199
The first UFC women’s strawweight champion Carla Esparza still exists folks and didn’t drop off the face of the Earth.
Esparza looks to return from her extended layoff at June’s UFC 199 event as stated in a recent tweet of hers.

Esparza was last seen in March 2015, where she lost the strawweight title to Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 185. Following the loss, she underwent shoulder surgery and was sidelined the rest of 2015.
“The Cookie Monster” previously defeated Rose Namajunas in the final of The Ultimate Fighter season 20 to become the inaugural UFC women’s strawweight champion. She defeated Angela Hill, Tecia Torres and Jessica Penne over the course of the show to make it to the finals.
Prior to joining the UFC, she fought for other notable promotions like Xtreme Fighting Championships, Bellator and Invicta FC, where she captured the promotion’s strawweight title.
With the strawweight division still being relatively new, the return of Esparza is definitely welcoming.
