Carlos Condit Talks About Return; Wants Nick Diaz Rematch
Former UFC welterweight interim champion, Carlos Condit recently did an interview speaking about his recovery from the knee injury he suffered at UFC 171.
Earlier this month, Vendetta Fighter reported that Condit is targeting a February or March 2015 return to the Octagon. Although Condit does not have a fight set for his return, he expressed interest in having a rematch with Nick Diaz, the man he beat at UFC 143 for the interim title.
Here’s what he told KRQE Albuquerque News:
“You know, Nick Diaz is back in the picture and I was thinking about maybe after he fights Anderson Silva getting that shot at him again, doing a rematch and kinda settling the score.”
Carlos Condit and Nick Diaz fought to a five-round decision at UFC 143. Although Condit won a unanimous decision, many fans were not pleased with the game-plan he implemented in the fight.
Condit did a great job of using footwork and movement to avoid being caught by Nick Diaz’s punching combinations. To some fans, it looked like all he was doing was running away.
But in the eye’s of the judges, Condit was using his good counter-striking abilities for majority of the fight.
It appeared that the UFC was content with making a rematch between the two, but Diaz failed his post-fight drug test for Marijuana metabolites, and the rematch was never made.
Nick Diaz faces former UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva at UFC 183.
