Chris Weidman vs Vitor Belfort Targeted For UFC 184 in Los Angeles

The middleweight title fight between champion Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort is now being targeted for UFC 184 on February 28th, 2015 at Los Angeles, California’s Staples Center.

This will be the third attempt by the UFC to get this fight to happen. The fight was originally planned for UFC 173, but with the Nevada State Athletic Commission banning testosterone replacement therapeutic use exemptions, Belfort was forced to pull out of the fight.

The UFC then targeted UFC 181 on December 6th for the fight to take place, but Chris Weidman needed to postpone the fight due to a hand injury.

Chris Weidman is a perfect 12-0 in his MMA career. Weidman shocked many as he dethroned the long-time middleweight champion Anderson Silva at UFC 162. He also went on to win the rematch with Silva at UFC 168.

Vitor Belfort is 6-2 since returning to the UFC in September of 2009. His two losses were in title fights, one to Anderson Silva at UFC 126, and the other was a light heavyweight title fight loss to No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter, Jon Jones.

Since the Jones loss, Belfort has picked up three impressive knockout victories over contenders Luke Rockhold, Michael Bisping and MMA legend, Dan Henderson.
