Conor McGregor fined $150K for bottle throwing incident
It turns out the bottle throwing incident at the UFC 202 pre-fight press conference will be a costly one for Conor McGregor, as the NSAC handed him a fine of $150K earlier today.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission decided on the fine amount by taking 5% of Conor McGregor’s UFC 202 show money of $3 Millon. But that’s not all, they also ruled that McGregor will have to complete 50 hours of community service for them.
Conor McGregor appeared before the NSAC and was asked if he’d like to make a statement prior to his punishment being handed down. Here’s what he said:
“I was very, very upset at the incident. It was a high stakes fight, my emotions got the better of me. All I can say is I’m sorry.”
The Attorney General that was present at the hearing today initially suggested a $25,00 fine, 25 hours of community service and 5 hours of media training (LOL) for the punishment. However, the NSAC felt the fine figure was too low for the highest paid fighter in the UFC.
Nate Diaz’s hearing for the same incident has been pushed to a later date, sometime in November.
