Conor McGregor taking 10 months away from fighting
At the UFC 205 post-fight press conference, Conor McGregor confirmed the rumor that his long-time girlfriend was pregnant with their first child and he intended to take some time off to be with her. At the time, McGregor was not giving a timeframe of how long he’d be away from the Octagon.
On the most recent episode of the UFC Unfiltered podcast, UFC president Dana White revealed that the duration McGregor will be takig off his 10 months.
White claimed this was the primary reason McGregor is no longer the featherweight champion.
Dana White also said this to the LA Times , today:
“He won’t fight before May. His girl gets super stressed out when he fights. He doesn’t want her having any of that stress while she’s pregnant. He’s good. He should take time off. He’s been fighting nonstop. Nothing wrong with him taking time off. It’s good for him and her and it’s good for the baby.”
