Cung Le Fails UFC Fight Night 48 Drug Test For HGH
UFC middleweight’s Micheal Bisping and Cung Le met in the UFC Fight Night 48 main event on August 23rd, 2014 in Macau, China. The fight was an entertaining affair that saw Bisping defeat Le in the fourth round via TKO.
The week of the fight, Cung Le posted a picture on Twitter that had many fans and fighters questioning if Le was using performance enhancing drugs, something Le laughed at and denied.
It now comes to light that people who we’re questioning Le’s physique, we’re on to something. Le was handed a nine-month suspension for testing positive for Human Growth Hormone in his post-fight drug test.
Here’s the official statement released by the UFC:
UFC middleweight Cung Le tested positive for an excess level of Human Growth Hormone in his system following his fight at UFC Fight Night in Macao, China on August 23. Due to his positive test result, Le was suspended by the UFC and notified that he violated the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy and Promotional Agreement with Zuffa, LLC. The UFC has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance-enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents by our athletes. Le will serve a nine-month suspension and, at its conclusion, will need to pass a drug test before competing in the UFC again.
With Cung Le currently being 42-years old, this is likely the last you’ll see of him in the UFC.
