Dana White claims he spent $100K to help Cerrone get out of legal trouble
UFC president Dana White claims that he’s not upset with any of his UFC fighters who are partaking in the newly developed MMA Athletes Association , when speaking on the ‘UFC Unfiltered’ podcast show recently.
But White does seem disappointed in Donald Cerrone for being a part of it, since he once went out of his way big-time to help Cerrone out of legal trouble, according to White.
Here’s what he had to say:
“I was shocked that Cerrone didn’t give me a call. He’s only main evented or headlined like three fights, right, Fight Night’s in his career, never held a title in WEC or UFC, right. A couple of years ago, he was on his boat and gets into a beef with a guy on another boat, and he’s in big trouble. Who does he call? He calls me. What do I do? I go out and find him the best criminal defense lawyer and I spent $100,000 of my own money….Yeah. So, when I see “Cowboy” standing up there it’s like, ‘alright, really? Ok’”
The boating incident White is referring to is when Cerrone was charged for assault , which ended up being a Class One Misdemeanor.
Dana White talks about the Donald Cerrone legal trouble incident at roughly the 8:33 mark of the podcast below.
