Dana White Says Alvarez vs Nurmagomedov is plan for UFC 205
UFC president Dana White responded to a fan on Twitter last night in attempt to squash the hot rumor that Conor McGregor will be facing lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, and said it will actually be Khabib Nurmagomedov that is getting the lightweight shot instead.
Many fans have felt for a long time that Khabib Nurmagomedov has what it takes to be the lightweight champion in the UFC. However, he’s been plagued with injuries and has only fought one time in the past two years.
Dana White has been known to throw smokescreen’s in the past, right before a big fight announcement to throw fans off and get a big reaction. This could be the case here, or, it’s also possible that he became frustrated with the negotiation process with Conor McGregor to get the Alvarez fight done for UFC 205, and pulled the plug on the idea.
Hours before Dana White gave that response, Eddie Alvarez was on twitter telling Conor McGregor that’s he’s ready and that’s it’s all over for him. The featherweight champ later responded by tweeting “Beg me”.
With UFC 205 being the long-awaited monumental card for New York City’s UFC debut, and ticket sales for the event happening soon, it would be in the UFC’s best interest to official name the main event for the card.
I expect that MMA fans will know the deal within the next week or so.
