Fabio Maldonado Wants to Welcome Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson Back to the UFC
UFC light heavyweight Fabio Maldonado has voiced his interest in being the man that welcomes Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson back to the UFC’s Octagon. The Brazilian isn’t doing so because he thinks it’s an easy fight, instead, he feels it would be an exciting fight for the fans.
Speaking to Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting, here’s what Maldonado had to say:
“I think this fight is interesting not only for me, but for a lot of people. It’s an exciting match-up. He has better wrestling and I have a better jiu-jitsu, and we both like to brawl. It would be a fun fight to watch, and you don’t know what to expect. I think it’s a good fight.
I’m sure ‘Rampage’ will stand and trade punches with me. He’s dangerous. He knocked out a guy that I couldn’t finish, a guy that I won a close split decision.
I’m sure he’ll stand with me. He won’t shy away from a brawl. His hands can knock anyone out in the UFC.”
Fabio Maldonado has won four of his last five fights. His loss during that stretch was a short notice fight at heavyweight against Stipe Miocic. Maldonado most recently fought Hans Stringer at UFC 179 and defeated him via TKO.
Quinton Jackson won all three of his fights in Bellator with victories over Joey Beltran, Christian M’Pumbu and Mo Lawal.
The UFC announced this past weekend that Quinton Jackson would be returning to the UFC. But according to Bellator MMA president Scott Coker, Jackson is still under contract with his organization.
So there’s a good chance Jackson’s return to the Octagon could be delayed if Viacom (owners of Bellator) dispute the UFC’s re-signing of Jackson.
