Fedor Emelianenko Interested In UFC And Wants Fabricio Werdum Rematch

MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko has not closed the door on the possibility of him fighting in the UFC one day. In fact, he’s recently expressed his desire to have a rematch with the first man to legitimately beat him, Fabricio Werdum.

Here’s what Fedor had to say abut it in this recent interview with Epic MMA:

“I have been asked about the UFC a lot. Our doors are open and we are talking about it. Maybe it will happen in the future.

I would like to have a rematch against Fabricio Werdum. I’ve told the UFC many times that I want and would accept that fight.

I have nothing to prove, but I want to fight the best of the best. And would like to fight UFC champion Fabricio Werdum.”

As for his next MMA fight, Fedor reveals it will take place in his home country of Russia:

“My next fight will be in Russia. I can’t tell you all the details, but I will fight in Russia for my fans.”

It’s unclear at this point if the UFC would have any interest in the man who was once widely viewed as the pound-for-pound greatest. Although Fedor has won his last four fights, he has not really defeated anyone who’d be considered to be a top-ranked fighter in MMA.

Fedor Emelianenko is still extremely popular among MMA fans, mostly the long-time fans who got to watch his impressive run in PRIDE FC.

If Fedor’s management team went into negotiations with the UFC with a reasonable perception of what Fedor’s worth financially, it would give the whole idea of him fighting in the UFC at least a chance.
