Frank Mir vs Antonio ‘Big Foot’ Silva Added To UFC 184 in Los Angeles
Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir has not retirement plans, for now, as he’s set to step into the Octagon with Antotnio ‘Big Foot’ Silva at UFC 184 on February 28th, 2015 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
Frank Mir is on a four-fight losing streak and has not won a fight since he broke Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira’s arm at UFC 140 in Toronto.
Although many fans and media felt that Mir had nothing left to accomplish in the sport, and that he should hang up his gloves, Mir was determined to have another fight, something the UFC obviously granted.
Antonio Silva himself has failed to pick up a win in his past three trips to the UFC’s Octagon. Silva was knocked out by underdog Andrei Arlovski, most recently at UFC Fight Night 51.
In his fight previous to that, he and Mark Hunt partook in what is considered the greatest heavyweight fight in UFC history, with both men slugging it out for five rounds. Unfortunately, Silva tested positive for elevated levels of testosterone, and the draw was overturned to a ‘No Contest’.
Antonio Silva’s last victory was over Alistair Overeem when he knocked out the Dutchman in the third round at UFC 156.
