Kimbo Slice Signs With Bellator

Back on December 26th, 2014, Vendetta Fighter reported that Kimbo Slice had returned to MMA training and speculated on a possible return to the sport. It now appears that former Youtube street fighting sensation is not only back in MMA, but has signed with Bellator.

Neil Rooke of Combat Press was the first to break the news, early Friday morning. John Morgan of MMA Junkie later confirmed the news via Twitter.

Kimbo Slice — Real name Kevin Ferguson — became so popular and intriguing from his street fighting, that he got a spot on TUF 10. Although he lost his first fight on the show to eventual winner, Roy Nelson, he was still given a shot to officially fight for the UFC.

Slice stepped into the Octagon with Houston Alexander at the TUF 10 finale in what would turn out to be one of the most bizarre UFC fights in history.

A normally aggressive Alexander seemed too hesitant to engage with Kimbo Slice and circled away from him for the most part of the fight. Kimbo Slice ended up winning the fight by unanimous decision.

Kimbo Slice would face Matt Mitrione next at UFC 113 and have no answer for Mitrione’s leg kicks, takedowns and ended up losing by TKO in the second-round.

UFC president Dana White praised Slice’s courage to go on TUF 10 and step into the Octagon, but released him.

Kimbo slice would go on to fight seven pro Boxing matches and win all of them. The official announcement is expected to take place during tonight’s Bellator 132 broadcast.
