Lyoto Machida vs Luke Rockhold Set For UFC on FOX 15
Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Lyoto Machida is set to face former Strikeforce middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold at UFC on FOX 15.
Luke Rockhold is 3-1 in the UFC’s Octagon. His one loss was to Vitor Belfort at UFC on FX 8. Rockhold defeated Michael Bisping by second-round submision in his last fight at UFC Fight Night 55.
Rockhold won all nine of his fights in Strikeforce and defeated Jacare Souza for the Strikforce middleweight title in September of 2011.
Lyoto Machida is 3-1 in the Octagon since making the move to middleweight. He lost a middleweight title fight to Chris Weidman by decision at UFC 175.
Lyoto Machida won his first six fights in the UFC, which earned him a light heavyweight title shot. He made the best of that shot and defeated Rashad Evans at UFC 98 to claim the title.
A win for either man should solidify themselves as one of the top contenders in the division. However, UFC president Dana White has revealed that if Anderson Silva deafts Nick Diaz at UFC 183, then Silva gets the next middleweight title shot
UFC on FOX 15 is scheduled to take place on April 18th, 2015 at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The Machida vs Rockhold fight will serve as the main event.
