Nate Diaz Blames Injuries and Poor Training Camp For UFC on FOX 13 Loss
UFC lightweight Nate Diaz spoke in a UFC on FOX 13 post-fight interview and gave some reasons as to why he felt he lost to Rafael dos Anjos. He goes on to explain that he had an injury and other issues that prevented him from having a productive camp that would’ve given him the ability to perform better in the Octagon.
Here’s what Diaz said:
“I came here to fight and to win. I ran into some issues in camp, and I wish I could’ve fought and won. I know what I can do. I had to come and get paid. I had some issues and was injured. I was not in the best type of shape I could be in. I’m here to fight, always.
I’m here, you see me. I’m not like other guys pulling out of fights with injuries. Regardless, I’m going to be here, and show up and show what I can do. I just wish I could’ve been in better shape and had better sparring. Next time. I’ll be here next time. I want to get the job and make it look right.”
Nate Diaz has been in the headlines all week, from his bashing of CM Punk and not making weight for his fight against Rafel dos Anjos. All the antics seemed to have frustrated UFC president Dana White..
Although Nate Diaz is 2-3 in his past five trips to the Octagon and the UFC may feel he is a pain to work with, there’s no denying he’s got a massive fan-base and can still be a big draw for them.
It will be interesting to see what’s next for Diaz.
