Once UFC 151 was cancelled & Vitor Belfort was slotted into face Jon Jone in Toronto one man was left without an opponent. Alan Belcher was slated to face Belfort but it appears it all worked out for the best.
Belcher wrote on his Twitter account today that he has suffered an injury.
Everyone’s asking if I am mad at @Ufc @jonnybones @vitorbelfort answer is no. this is a blessing in disguise. I have a spinal fracture.
With that being said and with much respect I’d like @Chrisweidmanufc or another top 5 on my return in November. Thx for all the support
With all of the upset fans & shuffling of fighters this move has seemed to work out well for Belcher. Belcher is on the cusp of being a title contender so a bout with Chris Weidman may make perfect sense.
