BJ Penn Requesting Rory MacDonald Fight To Be Moved To UFC 153

MMA legend BJ Penn, took to his official Twitter account to address the news of his UFC 152 opponent, Rory MacDonald being forced out of their fight with a nasty cut he suffered in training.

“I am sorry to hear about the injury to @rory_MacDonald, this is a fight that got me out of retirement and one that I was looking forward to.

I would like to wish Rory a speedy and healthy recovery and request a postponement of our fight to the Rio card. To Rory, let’s stay with VADA and continue through with the program from now until we fight!”

Rory MacDonald suffered a bad cut on his eyebrow during training recently that needed nearly 40 stitches to close up. He was advised he was prohibited from contact for one month. With UFC 152 taking place September 22nd, this would have prevented MacDonald from having a full training camp for the Penn fight.

UFC 153 takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on October 13th, 2012.
