With The Ultimate Fighter ratings from ‘TUF 15′ and ‘TUF Brasil’ not doing nearly as well as the UFC and FOX has expected, it’s time for a serious change. Some people suggest the drop in the ratings over the past couple years is due to over-saturation and/or fans being bored with the same format.
Give credit to the UFC for coming up with the live format for this past season which featured coaches Urijah Faber and Dominick Cruz.
But it was somewhat of a failure, to the point where the UFC is scrapping the live format, for next season at least.
There has been talks of making another ‘Comeback’ season as they did in the fourth season, which was an absolute success with the fans.
But it’s unlikely the winner of that potential show would be granted a title shot in the UFC, with the depth that they now have through all the divisions, besides flyweight.
I was thinking about what could help give the show a possible boost. Then it came to me…..Have a mini series within the TUF season to crown a new UFC Octagon girl.
Don’t get me wrong, I think Arianny Celeste and Brittney Palmer are beautiful and do their job well, but it’s good to see fresh faces more often. Also, Chandella Powell has been M.I.A since it was revealed that she failed to disclose her Pornography past. So really there is only two girls working the shows.
To the UFC’s credit, they do sometimes hire girls for one event in certian countries like they did for UFC 144 in Japan.
A way they could pull the idea off, is to have the fans vote each week and tally up the numbers prior to the TUF finale.
There would be no need to have a house for them and have the girls secluded for the duration of the TUF show. The season would be pre-recorded, so the Octagon Girl segment could likely air live.
Or you could also set it up where the Octagon Girl segments can be pre-recorded and added to the the show. The fans would then vote online or via a toll free number, and the winner would be announced at the TUF finale.
There is so many things they can do in that regard. Have the women partake in obstacle challenges, MMA trivia etc…. In the end, it won’t hurt the ratings and the fans will feel they have a new Octagon girl they chose.
