During the UFC post fight press conference in Atlanta. UFC president Dana White had this to say in regards to the light-heavyweight champions next opponent:
“Now the big thing is everybody on Twitter is saying Dan Henderson will definitely beat Jon Jones, so….I like that, not a bad thing, so everybody’s ready for the next one. Dan Henderson will definitely be a big test for Jon Jones.”
Henderson was offered a rematch with Mauricio “Shogun” Rua this July in Calgary, but turned it down claiming he only wants a title fight at light-heavyweight or at middleweight if Anderson Silva retains his belt in his rematch with Anderson Silva.
Dan Henderson is no doubt a legend in Mixed Martial Arts. He has held world titles in PRIDE FC and Strikeforce.
If he is able to dethrone Jones, who is widely seen as a top three pound for pound fighter in the world, it would definitely solidify Henderson’s sport as one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time.
No date or venue has been rumoured yet for this fight. But with Dan Henderson being 41 years of age and not having fought in 5 months, you should expect this fight late summer/early fall.
