One of today’s hottest debates in the world of MMA is how former #1 ranked heavyweight in the world, Fedor Emelianenko, would do against the current top ten UFC heavyweights. Well here is your chance to have your input:
Below are 10 of the top heavyweights in the UFC/ZUFFA along with a poll for you the fan to chose if Fedor would beat the fighter or not.
#1 Junior dos Santos
Dos Santos is currently the UFC heavyweight champion and posses the best boxing in heavyweight division by far. His MMA reocrd is 14-1, the one loss came back in 2007. Junior is 8-0 in the UFC with all his wins being dominant ones.
Vendetta Fighter pick: Junior dos Santos.
#2 Frank Mir
Mir will have another shot at becoming the UFC heavyweight champion when he takes on Dos Santos at UFC 146. Frank is 16-5 MMA and all but two of those fights have been in the UFC.
Mir is a fairly well rounded fighter, but has had trouble with aggressive strikers in the past.
Vendetta Fighter pick: Fedor Emelianenko
#3 Cain Velasquez
Velasquez was on a 9-0 run in MMA until he met Dos Santos at UFC on FOX and was dethroned in just over 60 seconds. He is still a top tier heavyweight with great cardio, boxing and wrestling. I think his speed might be too much for Fedor.
Vendetta Fighter pick: Cain Velasquez
#4 Alistair Overeem
It’s hard to rank The Reem amongst the UFC heavyweights considering he has fought once in the UFC. But with his impressive resume in MMA and Kickboxing, there’s no doubt he is in the top ten. Overeem has used his top notch striking and size to his advantage since moving from 205Lbs. But I think Fedor would find a way to submit the Dutchman.
Vendetta Fighter pick: Fedor Emelianenko
#5 Fabricio Werdum
Technically the first man to defeat Fedor in MMA. Many people call his triangle/armbar submission win a fluke. But he didn’t accidentally do it. Fedor just got a tad too reckless and aggressive and got caught. Lightning does not strike twice, Fedor would be smarter in a possible rematch and win via TKO.
Vendetta Fighter pick: Fedor Emelianenko
#6 Josh Barnett
Although he has not fought in the UFC in over 10 years, he should be back in the promotion after his Strikeforce fight with Daniel Cormier. With Barnett’s solid chin and good grappling skills I think he wins a decision over Fedor.
Vendetta Fighter pick: Josh Barnett
#7 Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
Big Nog and Fedor squared off three times in just under a 2 year span for PRIDE FC. Two of those fights were classics that Fedor won via decision, the other was a no contest due to an accidental headbutt. I think if these two fought again today, Fedor would score a TKO win due to Big Nog’s chin no longer being as tough as it used to be.
Vendetta Fighter pick: Fedor Emelianenko
#8 Daniel Cormier
Cormier is not officially in the UFC yet, but the ZUFFA brass must be drooling for this highly decorated wrestler with heavy hands to be be done with Strikeforce. This one is a tough call for me. Based on his lack of MMA experience (9 fights), I think Fedor would end up scoring the win. Although I can see Cormier pulling off a decision win as well.
Vendetta Fighter pick: Fedor Emelianenko
#9 Antonio Silva
Big Foot surprised many people in the opening round of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix by laying a beating on Fedor that had the doctor’s stop the fight in between the 2nd and 3rd round. Silva out muscled Fedor and did majority of the damage while in full mount. I think in a rematch Fedor would know what to avoid and score a TKO
Vendetta Fighter pick: Fedor Emelianenko
#10 Travis Browne
This 6’7 monster has the speed and agility of a middleweight fighter. He should be 5-0 in the UFC if it was not for poor reffing and judging at UFC 120, which saw him end up with a draw against Cheick Kongo. I think with Browne’s reach and athleticism, he would pull out the upset win over Fedor.
