Three people have been arrested after an investigation into a report of an illegal sporting event at a home in Florida.
Florida deputies say Angela Harrison, Brandon Harrison & his stepson Gauge Ford promoted and planned an unlicensed mixed martial arts event in November. All three face a third degree felony charge of promoting an illegal boxing match.
On Thursday, April 12, deputies learned that an unauthorized sporting event was held at 1407 Hightower Avenue South in Lehigh Acres. The allegations were that several juveniles met at the home to engage in a mixed martial arts event.
In the months leading up to the event Gauge Ford recruited students to fight at the event. Detectives with the Bravo District Criminal Investigations Division were able to access Facebook accounts including video posts showing teens and young adult males engaged in fighting. A school official at East Lee County High School helped to identify and contact some of the individuals in the videos.
The participants would wear gloves and fight until one of them stopped because of injury. Deputies say the investigation revealed that Ford, Angela and Brandon Harrison promoted and planned the event.
