BJ Penn made his intentions known that during his training camp for his UFC 152 bout with Rory MacDonald in Toronto, ON he would make his way to American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, CA.
AKA member Jon Fitch, who was also one of BJ Penn’s recent opponents has made it known he is not thrilled with the idea of Penn coming to his camp & working there.
Penn has commented about the problems Fitch is causing him.
“We’re over here in Honolulu right now, training. We’re gonna be here for a month, and then we’re gonna see where we’re gonna train next month. We’re trying to get up to AKA, but Fitch is trying to give me some problems about that. And all Jon Fitch has to do is look on the wall [at AKA]. Whose picture is on the wall holding the belt? That’s all Jon Fitch has to know.”
It is clear there is still some animosity between the two of them. Fans have questions Penn’s training camps for years. A move to a well known facility like AKA would appear to be a positive move. We will see how much power Fitch has within that gym & if he will stop Penn from coming to train.
