UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos‘ Jiu-Jitsu coach Yuri Carlton, spoke to Tatame.com and claimed his students BJJ is better than UFC 146 challenger Frank Mir‘s:
“I’m positive that Cigano’s Jiu-Jitsu is better. He trains with the Best guys in Brazil: Minotauro, Minotouro, Anderson, Demian, just to name a few. I believe he won’t disappoint people when it comes to Jiu-Jitsu..
Frank Mir trains on the United States with some Brazilians, but we have the privilege of training in Brazil. When you’re talking about Jiu-Jitsu, Brazil is the place to be. We have the great champions and Cigano is not far from being one”
It’s obvious Carlton is showing favoritism to his student and Brazilian culture. We have yet to see the ground game of dos Santos in the Octagon.
But the reason we have not seen Junior’s ground game, is because he prefers to use his devastating boxing skills. If Frank Mir can get the fight on the ground, this will be a very interesting fight.
