The Brazilian heavyweight fighter spoke to Tatame.com about his upcoming fight with Russian star Fedor Emelianenko as well as his hope to return to the UFC:
“I guess UFC is small now. My dream now is to win this thing, which is huge for me and my career and my will as a competitor. I don’t think about returning to the UFC in case I beat him. I have a couple of fights ahead of me, so I have him and another one, but I gotta defeat him first. I’m so glad about fighting Fedor I’m not thinking about UFC, I’m just thinking about this fight”.
And on the Fedor fight itself:
“I’m doing my regular training. It’s always important training, especially when you’re fighting Fedor, who’s a guy I always dreamed about fighting with. For many reasons we never fought in all those years. Or I lost a fight when he was on the way or maybe we were in different events. On the times we were on the same event, which was Affliction, I lost to Josh (Barnett), I lost at Pride. When I was doing great in the UFC he was at Pride, so we never got the chance to fight. I always wanted this. Fighting a guy I’ve always watched fighting, I’ve always imagined fighting him and it’s finally happening.”
