Respected MMA media member Mike Straka, appeared on the most recent episode of “The MMA Beat”, with co-hosts Ariel Helwani, Luke Thomas and Chuck Mindenhall to discuss various topics in MMA. One topic was the hot topic of the possible Georges St-Pierre vs. Anderson Silva fight; which Straka had some very interesting input on.
“I was told by somebody very close to Georges; that Georges today, makes close to eight million dollars a fight.
So to fight Anderson Silva, he’s going to ask for fifty million dollars. Five-zero, because he said that Georges has ten fights left in his career, at eight million a fight.
But he believes that Anderson could actually hurt him, could physically hurt him and end his career. So to take that chance he wants fifty million dollars, and that’s exactly the number he’s going to go to Dana White with”
There have been estimations in the past that St-Pierre actually makes around five million dollars a fight, but there are no official numbers.
A potential fight between St-Pierre and Anderson Silva would easily be the biggest fight in UFC history. If done properly from a business standpoint, it would easily fetch the most pay-per-view buys and gate revenue in the organization’s history.
