It was first reported by mmafighting.com that Strikeforce was planning a mega show for January, a card that could boast the likes of Luke Rockhold, Gilbert Melendez, Daniel Cormier, Nate Marquardt and Ronda Rousey.
According to Eric Holden of examiner.com, Strikeforce bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, is rumored to be defending her title against Liz Carmouche on that card.
The fight that majority of MMA fans want to see, is Rousey face off with former champion Cris ‘Cyborg’ Santos, but with Santos coming off suspension in January, it’s unlikely making that fight is possible.
Liz Carmouche is coming off two straight wins in Invicta FC, she defeated Ashleigh Curry this past April and got an impressive submission win over Kaitlin Young at Invicta FC 2 in July.
Carmouche’s two losses have come at the hands of highly ranked fighters Marloes Coenen and Sarah Kaufman.
Ronda Rousey, has taken the female MMA scene by storm, securing a first-round submission (armbar) victory in all of her six professional fights.
It’s hard to predict what weekend the Strikeforce card will take place in January, ZUFFA (UFC) have no events currently scheduled that month, other than the debut of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ 17 and ‘Ultimate Fighter Brazil 2.
The tweet below shows that Carmouche is likely competing under the ZUFFA banner next, which adds a bit of fuel to the rumor.
