Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Kennedy Staff Predictions

(#1) – Mike McPhee - @ManCaveMMA

Luke Rockhold vs. Tim Kennedy (Rockhold via Decision)

Close fight to call. Kennedy has been close to the title before & is hungry to win. Both fighters are very hard to finish so I would not be surprised if this goes all 5 rounds. Rockhold is on a good roll & I expect him to keep his belt in a very tight decision.

Nate Marquardt vs. Tyron Woodley (Woodley via Submission)

Marquardt returns to action after over a year off. Ring rust is real & I expect it. Woodley has yet to taste defeat & I think that continues. Woodley will be able to take Marquardt down. He will work for a submission but if he isn’t able to secure it Woodley is good enough to keep him down & grind out a decision.

Roger Gracie vs. Keith Jardine (Gracie via Submission)

Jardine has never really impressed me. He can take a beating while still coming at you. He will try to KO Gracie & Gracie will try to get him down. I think he will at some point at takes a limb home with him.

Lorenz Larkin vs. Robbie Lawler (Lawler via KO)

Larkin drops to middleweight as he was undersized at 205. Unfortunately for him he faces a knockout artist who will swing for the fences. With his last fight to King Mo being changes to a No Contest Larking is still undefeated. I don’t think he can withstand a barrage like Lawler can bring & he earns his first official loss.

Jorge Masvidal vs. Justin Wilcox (Masvidal via KO)
Pat Healy vs. Mizuto Hirota (Healy via Submission)
Jordan Mein vs. Tyler Stinson (Mein via TKO)
Jason High vs. Nate Moore (High via Submission)
Ryan Couture vs. Joe Duarte (Couture via Decision)

(#2) – Jay Russell - @VENDETTA_MMA

Luke Rockhold vs. Tim Kennedy (Rockhold via Decision)

Fairly even match-up. Kennedy has had one loss in the past five years, to Ronaldo Souza. Rockhold is undefeated in his pro MMA career. Both tend to put on exciting fights, I see Rockhold keeping the momentum going with a unanimous decision win.

Nate Marquardt vs. Tyron Woodley (Marquardt via TKO)

Marquardt will cherish this opportunity, considering he was cut from ZUFFA last year and it looked like he may never get another chance. Woodley has relied too much on just his wrestling in his latest fights. Nate is much better rounded and I see him scoring the TKO win.

Roger Gracie vs. Keith Jardine (Gracie via Submission)

Jardine is always a tough fight for anybody he has faced as of late. This will be Gracie’s light-heavyweight debut. I see Gracie eventually getting this fight to the ground and getting the submission victory.

Lorenz Larkin vs. Robbie Lawler (Larkin via Decision)

Lawler will constantly be looking for the one punch knockout. Larkin is the more athletic fighter who should be able to avoid getting knocked out and win via decision. Lawler will most likely gas out just past the midway mark of the fight.

Jorge Masvidal vs. Justin Wilcox (Masvidal via Decision)
Pat Healy vs. Mizuto Hirota (Healy via Decision)
Jordan Mein vs. Tyler Stinson (Mein via TKO)
Jason High vs. Nate Moore (High via Submission)
Ryan Couture vs. Joe Duarte (Couture via Decision)

(#3) – Corey Osborne - @Osborcor1

Luke Rockhold vs. Tim Kennedy (Rockhold Via Decision)

These guys have been going back and forth for a couple months now, and its been a war. It goes down this Saturday and I just see Rockhold being a little bit better. Rockhold will keep his distance and pick Kennedy apart for 5 rounds

Nate Marquardt vs. Tyron Woodley (Woodley Via Decision)

Woodley has been a decision machine in SF, taking people down and holding them there until he gets his hand raised. I see nothing that leads me believe that he wont do it to Marquardt. Look at Marq/Sonnen and replace Sonnen with Woodley.

Roger Gracie vs. Keith Jardine (Gracie Via Submission)

Jardine has been looking for a win to get him back on track, unfortunatly he wont find it against Gracie. Jardine has never been very good at stopping a takedown, and when Gracie gets this to the ground he taps.

Lorenz Larkin vs. Robbie Lawler (Lawler Via KO)

This is a fight made for Lawler to get a big KO. He will be looking for the highlight reel and eventually get it.

Jorge Masvidal vs. Justin Wilcox (Masvidal Via KO)
Pat Healy vs. Mizuto Hirota (Healy Via Decision)
Jordan Mein vs. Tyler Stinson (Mein Via Decision)
Jason High vs. Nate Moore (High Via Decision)
Ryan Couture vs. Joe Duarte (Couture Via Submission)

(#4) – Deb Borges - @HammertownMMA

Luke Rockhold vs. Tim Kennedy (Rockhold by decision)

Kennedy is one of those well rounded fighters with not too many holes in his game plan. He is tough as nails, solid striker, good wrestling and submissions, not to mention amazing cardio. Rockhold is “almost” a carbon copy of Kennedy but I think he is a bit better with his striking and submission skills.

Nate Marquardt vs. Tyron Woodley (Marquardt by decision)

This is a really good match up and will be a good fight as well. Woodley is coming into this fight with his great wrestling skills but I think he is going to have a tough time taking Nate down or keeping him down. Nate is a great athlete who has amazing striking, solid wrestling and loads of cardio. Great to see Nate fighting again!

Lorenz Larkin vs. Robbie Lawler (Lawler by TKO)

Bothe of these fighters love to stand up and exchange and that is what I see happening in this fight. Even though Lawler has struggled in the past against grapplers I don’t see Larking taking this fight to the ground.

Roger Gracie vs. Keith Jardine (Gracie by submission)

This fight does not really excite me because neither one of these fighters are really explosive. Jardine is the better striker and Gracie has better ground game so it will come down to who has the better game plan. I do, however see Gracie submitting Jardine.

Ryan Couture vs. Joe Duarte (Couture by decision)
Jorge Masvidal vs. Justin Wilcox (Masvidal by TKO)
Pat Healy vs. Mizuto Hirota (Healy by submission)
Jordan Mein vs. Tyler Stinson (Mein by TKO)
Jason High vs. Nate Moore (High by decision)
