Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman Staff Predictions

(#1) – Jay Russell - @VENDETTA_MMA

Ronda Rousey vs. Sarah Kaufman (Rousey via Submission)

I expect this fight to actually make it to the second or third round. Not something Rousey is accustomed to. Kaufman is an underrated fighter who has a wealth of experience and will have the advantage in the stand up.

But Ronda has been working her boxing extensively and should be able to survive that aspect of the fight. I see Ronda wearing Sarah out on the ground before getting her sixth armbar victory (Pro) in a row and retaining her title.

Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza vs. Derek Brunson (Jacare via Submission)

Brunson is coming off a ‘Robbery’ loss to Kendal Grove at ShoFight 20, and will likely come out strong in this fight. But I think Brunson’s Wrestling style will play right into the submission game of lethal BJJ Practitioner, Jacare.

Roger Bowling vs. Tarec Saffiedine (Bowling via TKO)

This could potentially be a close fight. But Bowling is a T(KO) machine, recording T(KO) wins in eight of his eleven victories. Saffiedine is good enough not to get caught early, but will eventually become Bowling’s twelfth victory.

Lumumba Sayers vs. Anthony Smith (Sayers via Decision)

Sayers seems to win and lose in dramatic fashion, Smith is 16-8 in Pro MMA and will be on the big stage for the first time. I am picking Sayers, because Smith does not even have a Wikipedia page, not a good sign.

T.J. Cook vs. Ovince St. Preux (St. Preux Decision)
Julie Kedzie vs. Miesha Tate (Tate via TKO)
Bobby Green vs. Matt Ricehouse (Green via Decision)
Adlan Amagov vs. Keith Berry (Amagov via KO)
Germaine de Randamie vs. Hiroko Yamanaka (Yamanaka via Decision)

(#1) – Mike McPhee - @ManCaveMMA

Ronda Rousey vs. Sarah Kaufman (Rousey via Submission)

I have no doubt Kaufman will come up guns blazing & try to KO Rousey. If she does I wouldn’t be at all surprised. Rousey showed me something in her fight with Miesha Tate. She withstood the initial barrage, remained calm & worked her game plan. Kaufman hits harder that Tate but that focus should work for her as she will earn a takedown at some point. Once she does, it is all over.

Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza vs. Derek Brunson (Jacare via Submission)

The winner may be in line for a title shot here. Brunson has proved himself to be a quality fighter but Jacare is just too skilled on the mat. Jacare’s standup is improving but if gets Brunson on his back this fight will be over.

Roger Bowling vs. Tarec Saffiedine (Bowling via TKO)

Bowling has only every lost to one man. It was twice during the trilogy with Bobby Voelker. Bowling hits harder that Saffiedine. He will catch him at some point & finish him off for the TKO on the ground.

Lumumba Sayers vs. Anthony Smith (Sayers via Submission)

Sayers is a strong guy who has heavy hands but can submit people as well. I don’t expect this fight to last too long. Sayers should be able to secure a takedown & work for a choke of some kind.

T.J. Cook vs. Ovince St. Preux (St. Preux via Submission)

OSP was on quite a roll before he lost to Mousasi last year. He will get back on this roll as he is too good of an athlete to lose to Cook. OSP should be able to take this fight to the ground when he wants & tap Cook out.

Julie Kedzie vs. Miesha Tate (Tate via TKO)
Bobby Green vs. Matt Ricehouse (Green via Decision)
Adlan Amagov vs. Keith Berry (Amagov via KO)
Germaine de Randamie vs. Hiroko Yamanaka (Yamanaka via Decision)

(#3) – Corey Osborne – @Osborcor1

Ronda Rousey vs. Sarah Kaufman (Rousey Via Submission)

ronda has a collection of arms, I really hope that Kaufman has been learning how to defend the armbar. I do not see Ronda winning by Armbar, but she will lock in some submission early in the fight.

Ronaldo Souza vs. Derek Brunson (Souza Via Submission)

Brunson has been wrestling for most of his fight. I see him trying to do that against Souza, and paying for it. He will get rocked on the feet, shoot and wake up when the ref pulls Souza off of him.

Tarec Saffiedine vs. Roger Bowling (Saffiedine Via KO)

Tarec has been making quite a name for himself in SF. Other then a loss to Woodley, he has a perfect record. I see him eventually fighting for the title and dont see him allowing Bowling to get in the way. Look for a good stand up fight.

Lumumba Sayers vs. Anthony Smith (Sayers Via Submission)

If this fight goes past the first round, Smith wins. Sayers has never been past the first and has never been tested. I do not see Smith as the guy to bring him to the second, and will get choked out early.)

Ovince St. Preux vs. T.J. Cook (OSP Via KO)
Miesha Tate vs. Julie Kedzie (My Future Wife Tate Via Decision)
Bobby Green vs. Matt Ricehouse (Green Via Decision)
Adlan Amagov vs. Keith Berry (Amagov Via KO)
Hiroko Yamanaka vs. Germaine de Randamie (Randamie Via Decision)

(#4) – Deb Borges - @HammertownMMA

Ronda Rousey vs. Sarah Kaufman (Kaufman by decision)

Kaufman is definitely being overlooked going into this fight and most fans seem to have forgotten she was once the bantamweight champion. That being said, Rousey is skilled and one tough girl who will do whatever she has to in order to defend her title. Both woman are tough, skilled fighters and this truly is, in my opinion anybody’s fight. Kaufman is not about to go down without a fight, no pun intended.

Ronaldo Souza vs. Derek Brunson(Souza by submission)

Souza is a beast, hands down! His BJJ is outstanding and he is overall an amazing athlete. He is definitely going to push the pace of this entire fight and no doubt put Brunson on his back where he is most comfortable. Brunson has his hands full with Souza and if he can keep the fight standing it might go the distance.

Roger Bowling vs. Tarec Saffiedine(Saffiedine by decision)

Saffiedine is one of those fighters who starts off slow but finishes strong. He is skilled in pretty much all aspects of his game from heavy hands, powerful leg kicks and descent ground game. He does need to be cautious of Bowling’s power as he too is dangerous on his feet. I see these fighters avoiding the ground because they both love to exchange punches.

Lumumba Sayers vs. Anthony Smith(Sayers by TKO)

This will be an exciting fight because neither fighter has ever left it in the hands of the judges and love to finish fights. In all honesty I think this fight will be a case of who can knock out who first .

T.J. Cook vs. Ovince St. Preux (St.Preux by decision)

St. Preux needs to avoid standing with Cook, keep busy and look for any takedown opportunity. Cook simply needs to avoid the ground with St. Preux and use his powerful stand up skills if he stands any chance of winning this fight.

Julie Kedzie vs. Miesha Tate(Tate by decision)
Bobby Green vs. Matt Ricehouse(Ricehouse by decision)
Adlan Amagov vs. Keith Berry(Amagov by KO)
Germaine de Randamie vs. Hiroko Yamanaka (Yamanaka by submission)
