All-time great Anderson Silva explains why he stepped up to headline UFC 153, and why he’s excited to add Stephan Bonnar to his list of victories.
“It was a request from Dana to come in and save UFC 153. It was an opportunity to give back to all the Brazilian fans for what they did to support me in my last fight.
I believe I have more agility, more speed at this weight. I don’t know about the power but I do believe I’m more agile. Due to the short amount of time to train, it’s easier to make 205 rather than try and cut to 185.
You have to respect Stephan Bonnar. He is the reason why MMA and the UFC are where they are today. He has done a lot for the sport. He has to be respected and given a lot of credit.
It’s an individual sport so you always have to be improving and training at all times. I think that is the goal for every athlete and it’s no different for me. I hope to continue my win streak and I can finish my career undefeated in the UFC.”
UFC 153 takes place on October 13th from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
