After the success of UFC 144: Edgar vs. Henderson in Japan the promotion is already planning the next trip to the land of the rising sun.
The UFC reportedly pulled in over 20,000 fans for the event & look to return to the Saitama Super Arena where it was held. MMAWeekly has reported that March 3, 2013 is the date circled on the UFC’s calendar.
Since the death of Pride FC, MMA in the country has been on the decline. Promotions like DREAM & Sengoku attempted to revive the spirit but could not last long term. ONE FC is doing a fine job in the area rebuilding Asian MMA but Japan itself is still lingering in the downward spiral it has been in for years.
The UFC is slowly bringing their brand back to the market after not being there for more than a decade. With another successful show there in March it may set up the country for another visit later in the year.
