Where Do They Go Now? UFC on FUEL TV 2 Edition‏

Welcome back friends, its been a while and I apologize. But I’m back, and I’m here with another “Where do they go now”. UFC on Fuel 2 was Saturday afternoon/night and it brought some fireworks, and some less then awesome performances.

The main fights on this card brought all the
hype that we were being told they would, the under-cards showed some
great looking up and comers.

So now the big question that everyone is scrambling to figure out is
“Who does ___ fight now?” well in this article I will play Joe Silva. I
will put on my matchmaker cap and see if I can predict where fighters go
from here. I will choose most of the fighters from the most recent card
and try to predict where they go now.

Usually I will take all the Winners from the Main Card, Some Winners
from the Prelims and (maybe) a couple of the losers from throughout the
card.

Here we go:

Francis Carmont: The MW GSP showed that he still has some work to do
before he lives up to that title. But a win is a win, and he did get a
pretty good submission. Don’t be surprised if he stays around the lowed
levels in the MW division
Possible Opponents: Andrew Craig, Ronny Markes

James Head: This is going to be a two for one, because Papi’s next
fight, wont be in the UFC. Head on the other hand looked outstanding. He
completely dominated every moment of this 1 round fight. Look for him to
fight a bigger name his next time out (I realize that Sanchez has said
he wants to go back to LW, but I don’t see him getting the fight he wants
down there)
Possible Opponents: Diego Sanchez, Thiago Alves

Brad Pickett: Well it took him 2 tries, but Pickett finally got his
first UFC win, and looked impressive doing it. This fight made us all
remember why we used to love watching Pickett fight. When he is in their
against someone who is willing to bang with him, he is going to put on
one hell of a show. I see him playing Gate-Keeper from now on, or maybe
sticking around Fuel/FX cards as an “Exciting Fight”, which means he
wont be getting top tier names, but pretty close to it.
Possible Opponents: Torres vs McDonald loser

John Maguire: I loved this fight. Maguire is an awesome fighter, and
has looked good in his 2 fights in the UFC. Im a sucker for sick ground
transitions, and he seemed to keep his composure while Johnson was
trying to do his thing on the ground. Unlike Carmont, I expect Maguire
to move on to bigger and better things a lot faster.
Possible Opponents: Brown vs Thompson Winner, Hathaway vs Krauss Winner

Diego Nunes: Alright, First (and only) Loser from the card. I feel bad
for Nunes, 2 UFC fights and 2 decisions that could have gone either way.
I don’t know what it is about Nunes, he does enough to not lose, but not
enough to win. He had Siver hurt multiple times but didn’t finish so he
has no one to blame but himself. Look for him to stay on FX/Fuel cards
as he can still put on quite a fight.
Possible Opponents: Bermudez vs Garza Winner

Dennis Siver: He seemed okay in his new division. He didn’t waste all
his energy in the first 2 rounds, and that helped him possibly steal
round 3 on the scorecards. A lot of the top guys in this division are
already booked, so it isn’t fun to be a winning fighter. You can either
take a fight beneath the guy you just beat, or wait for a top guy. I see
Siver doing the later, and waiting a couple weeks to see the result of
one of the big matchups at 145.
Possible Opponents: Hominick vs Yagin Winner

Siyar Bahadurzada: Did you just blink? If you said yes then you missed
Siyar’s win. This was a crazy KO, and it came against one of my
favourite fighters. They didn’t exactly give him an easy contest in his
first fight, so I doubt they are going to try and bring him along
slowly. A lot like Siver, he may be watching UFC 145 very closely
Possible Opponents: Mills vs MacDonald Loser

Brian Stann: Brian Stann does, what Brian Stann does. You keep feeding
him stand-up fighters and he is going to continue knocking them out. I
think any chance he had at a title shot went out the window with the
Sonnen fight. He is going to keep being fed fighters who will stand
in-front of him and let the American Hero Tee Off. He may get a former
contender coming off a loss.
Possible Opponents: Yushin Okami

Alexander Gustafsson: Let me just start by saying that the display he
put on against Silva was nothing short of spectacular. But I cant write
anything here that hasn’t already been said in the last 24 hours since
the fights. What I am going to say is that people need to stop comparing
him to JBJ (Especially Kenny, who I can not stand commentating on
fights). They are not the same fighter, they never will be the same
fighter. He is good, but unproven. JBJ is (As much as it pains me to say
this) has proved his greatness. So lets just all agree to stop now. Look
for Gust to fight his original opponent off this card, or take a big
jump to a former champ.
Possible Opponents: Lyoto Machida, Antônio Rogério Nogueira

Lets not wait so long to do this again!

Don’t agree with the match-ups I made? Let me hear it.
