On November 9, 2013 the UFC visited Brazil for UFC Fight Night 32: Belfort vs Henderson 2. The main event was the long-awaited rematch between Vitor ‘The Phenom’ Belfort and Dan ‘Hendo’ Henderson. Henderson defeated Belfort in their first encounter in 2006 at Pride 32 via unanimous decision.
The fight came at a time in which both fighters were surrounded by accusations regarding TRT. Vitor was on a tear, he had knocked out Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold earlier in the year. On the other hand, ‘Hendo’ was coming from two split decision losses to Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans.
With the win, Vitor Belfort landed himself a title shot versus Chris Weidman. However, the fight would not come to fruition until May, 2015.
‘Hendo’ would follow his loss with a victory over Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua just a few months later.
