Miesha Tate Predicts Ronda Rousey Will Defeat Cat Zingano In The First Round
Cat Zingano made her return to the UFC’s Octagon this past weekend at UFC 178, and picked up a third round TKO victory over Amanda Nunes. The win granted her the next title shot at the dominant women’s bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey. Fellow UFC women’s bantamweight Miesha Tate, who has also been in the Octagon with both Zingano and Rousey, gave her opinion on what to expect when the two women fight.
Here’s what Tate had to say:
“I think that Ronda is going to win the fight. Zingano starting slow two fights in a row is not going to serve her well with Ronda, who is a fight-finishing machine. She finishes fights in the first round. You can’t come out to a slow pace and expect to get out of a round with Ronda Rousey.
Her physical presence suggests that she is really strong, but I didn’t feel that during my fight with her. It didn’t feel like she was superiorly stronger than any fighter I had faced before. I’m not saying she can’t win the fight. I’ve been in there with both and I think the explosive power of Rousey will beat Cat to the punches in every area and that should be enough to keep the title.”
Ronda Rousey last fought at UFC 175, back on July 5th, 2014, and defeated Alexis Davis in a mere sixteen seconds, a new record for Rousey, who’s finished nine of her ten professional fights in the first round.
UFC president Dana White has recently revealed that Rousey has requested her next fight take place at UFC 182, which is headlined by the light heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier, and takes place on January 3rd, 2014, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Although the fight is not official, it looks as if Rousey’s request will be granted, and her and Zingano will meet at UFC 182’s co-main event.
