UFC Fight Night 61 – 2 Fights Added
Alcantara vs. Saenz, dos Santos vs. de la Torre
The UFC added two new fights to the upcoming UFC Fight Night 61 event in Porto Alegre, Brazil, on Feb. 22 2015. This includes the return of top ranked bantamweight Iuri Alcantara.
Alcantara who is coming off three straight wins, including one KO in 25 seconds, will face Frankie Saenz.
Iuri “Marajo” Alcantara (32-5, 1 no-contest) gets back in the Octagon after a 3-0 record in 2014. Alcantara’s last loss was a decision to Urijah Faber in August 17, 2013.
Saenz, currently at 8-2, made his UFC debut in August, defeating Nolan Ticman via unanimous decision. Before joining the UFC, Saenz went 7-2, winning and defending the King of the Cage championship.
The second fight added features Tiago dos Santos against Mike de la Torre. Santos is making his featherweight debut with a record of 20-4-1, 1 no-contest, who is a former Jungle Fight lightweight champion. He enters the fight with an impressive 11-fight win streak.
Mike de la Torre (12-4, 1 no-contest) literally has his back against a wall when after his first two UFC fights is still winless. “El Cucuy”, who suffered a split decision loss to Mark Bocek in April, was choked out by Brian Ortega in July, but the result was overturned to a no contest after Ortega tested positive for drostanolone.
UFC Fight Night 61 is headlined by Rashad Evans vs. Glover Teixeira, The event takes place at the Gigantinho Gymnasium in Porto Alegre, Brazil on Feb. 22.
