The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) is following through on its commitment, with a trip to Florida to see Vitor Belfort.
Vitor Belfort is headlining UFC 184 against current Champion Chris Weidman. Vitor, “the Phenom” Belfort was subjected to a surprise drug test earlier this week in Florida, when the NSAC showed up unannounced and asked for samples of the fighter’s urine and blood.
We knew a Vitor Belfort drug test was coming .. I mean, really?
Vitor Belfort complied, and now, as fans, all we can do is wait.
It is likely Vitor will be tested again, assuming this first test returns with a negative result.
This week Chris Weidman was seen getting a little vocal on Twitter about the lack of testing, well it seems he got his wish.
We should expect to see results from these first sets of tests within 2 weeks.
We all know Vitor was found with elevated testosterone earlier in the year, and attended a disciplinary hearing with the Commission. He came away with two slaps on the wrist: (1) his next fight had to be in Vegas (check), and (2) he would be tested leading up to this fight (check).
The MMA Community, including the UFC and Chris Weidman became very vocal when it was announced Vitor wasn’t being tested leading up to the UFC 184 championship fight. It appears they were listening and made good on their promise.
The Ball is Vitor’s court. Tic Toc ..
