UFC 184: Vitor Belfort Passes Recent Drug Test
Earlier this week, UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman voiced his concerns on whether or not his UFC 184 opponent, Vitor Belfort, passed his most recent drug test conducted by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Well, it appears all is well, for now. Earlier today, NSAC executive director Bob Bennett revealed to ESPN that Belfort passed the test for any banned substances, or irregular testosterone levels.
Bob Bennett also revealed that it was the UFC themselves that covered all costs for the testing. It was interesting that the NSAC conducted the testing in the first place, since the Chris Weidman vs Vitor Belfort fight was moved out of their jurisdiction when Chris Weidman suffered a broken hand and was forced out of the original UFC 181 date.
The middleweight title fight will now take place on February 28th, 2015 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
Challenger Vitor Belfort is currently on a three fight winning streak. During that streak, Belfort has knocked out Michael Bisping, Luke Rockhold and became the first man to KO MMA legend, Dan Henderson.
Chris Weidman boasts a perfect 12-0 record in pro MMA. His dethroning of former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, his win in the rematch, and his recent win over Lyoto Machida at UFC 175 have Chris Weidman ranked near the top of the pound-for-pound list.
