Welterweight Contender Neil Magny Signs New UFC Contract
Fast-rising welterweight contender Neil Magny will be with the UFC for the unforeseeable future as he has signed a new-four fight contract with the promotion.
The news was first reported by MMAFighting.com. There has not been any word on when Magny’s next bout is.
The UFC’s pattern usually involves offering a fighter a new contract when only one fight is left on their contract and this was the case when it came to Magny.
Fighters such as Benson Henderson and Rory MacDonald have made it known that they wanted to test their free-agency beyond the UFC and Henderson actually ended up signing with Bellator. But given his recent performances inside the Octagon, Magny most likely will see a generous pay-raise and offer that he could not turn down.
Magny has surged through the rankings by winning 3 straight fights over Erick Silva, Kelvin Gastelum and most recently had his most impressive win ever over Hector Lombard at UFC Fight Night 85 just a few weeks ago. Magny also has other impressive wins over formidable fighters like Alex Garcia, Tim Means and Hyun Gyu Lim.
Overall, Magny has an impressive 11-3 record during his time with the UFC and should be seeing higher numbers in his pay for his next fight to come in the UFC.
