Why Bisping Did Not Ask For Title Shot After His Fight

Michael Bisping just came off the biggest win of his career after beating the legendary Anderson Silva. Bisping was able to keep the pressure on Silva for 5 rounds and survive some vicious strikes from Silva to eventually get the unanimous decision from the judges.

In the interview with Ariel Helwani below, Bisping mentions to Helwani why he did not ask for the title shot directly after the win.

“I don’t know. I should have done it but it never occurred to me at the time. I guess it was just relief and emotion. For me this was a personal challenge and I overcame that. So I wasn’t thinking about my next fight, I was thinking about, you know, my children and my family and that is why I got a little emotional. So I was not thinking about my next fight.”

Of course Bisping would not mind getting the winner of Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman, he was just concerned about the moment at hand. Hopefully the long time UFC veteran can get a crack at the title before his career is over.
