It isn’t a new championship fight for Wilson Reis but he will at least stay on UFC 201 when he now takes on UFC newcomer, Sean Santella. The UFC announced this opponent change live during the UFC Fight Night: McDonald vs Lineker broadcast on Wednesday evening.

Santella (15-5) is on a two-fight winning streak and has primarily fought for Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) in recent years. He is a Jiu-Jitsu expert with ten of his 15 victories coming via submission and he holds a victory over Strikeforce veteran, Anthony Figueroa. He also fought bantamweight contender, Aljamain Sterling to a five-round decision for the CFFC championship.

Reis (20-6 MMA; 4-2 UFC) was scheduled to challenge Demetrious Johnson for the flyweight championship when the champion dropped out due to injury. Reis is 3-1 as a flyweight and has won eight of his last ten fights overall. He is getting a significant downgrade in terms of the matchup but at least gets to still fight on the card.

UFC 201 is scheduled for July 30 in the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. This will be the promotion’s third trip to the city following UFC 145 in 2012. The card will be headlined by a welterweight title bout between Robbie Lawler and Tyron Woodley.
